Give your dairy platform drive wheels new life

Barnhill Engineering supplies new rotary dairy platform drive wheels, and re-rubbers suitable used wheels.

When the existing aluminium casting is still serviceable, re-rubbering can be a better-value alternative to replacing the complete wheel. Barnhill Engineering will assess your used wheel and advise whether re-rubbering or replacement is the appropriate option.

New wheels or re-rubbering - Barnhill Engineering can help

A worn drive wheel does not always mean the complete wheel needs to be replaced.

Re-rubbering restores the working surface while retaining a suitable existing casting. This can extend the useful life of the wheel and avoid the cost of an unnecessary full replacement.

If your casting is not suitable for re-rubbering, Barnhill Engineering can discuss supplying a new drive wheel instead.

Why re-rubber your existing drive wheel?

  • A better-value alternative when the casting remains serviceable

  • Extends the working life and avoids replacing a sound existing wheel

  • Assessment and practical advice from dairy platform engineers

  • Convenient Christchurch drop-off or courier delivery

  • Return courier delivery to your nominated address

Dairy Platform Drive Wheel Re-Rubbering FAQs

What is drive wheel re-rubbering?

It restores the rubber working surface of a used rotary dairy platform drive wheel, allowing a serviceable wheel casting to be put back into use.

Why re-rubber a drive wheel instead of buying new?

If the existing aluminium casting remains suitable for reuse, re-rubbering can be a better-value option than replacing the complete wheel. It also keeps a serviceable casting in use for longer.

Can every used wheel be re-rubbered?

Not necessarily. Barnhill Engineering will assess the wheel before confirming whether it is suitable. If it cannot be re-rubbered, Barnhill Engineering can discuss a new replacement wheel.

Do you also supply new drive wheels?

Yes, Barnhill Engineering supplies both new and re-rubbered dairy platform drive wheels.

What makes, sizes and platform types can you handle?

Barnhill Engineering supplies new and can re-rubber the following dairy platform drive wheels:

  • Donald 6 bolt style

  • V9

  • Spigot Keyed 35mm

  • Spigot Keyed 40mm

How do I get my wheel to you?

Customers can drop off drive wheels at Barnhill Engineering’s Christchurch collection point or send them there by courier. The completed wheel will be couriered to your nominated return address.

What information should I send with the wheel?

Include the following:

  • Your name and business or farm name

  • Phone number and email

  • Return delivery address

  • Platform make or wheel details, if known

  • Any relevant notes about the wheel or platform

Can I get an indication before sending it?

The ideal first step is to send Barnhill Engineering photographs of the wheel, including the complete wheel, rubber surface, hub and any visible damage. Ideally, final suitability for re-rubber will be confirmed after physical inspection by Barnhill Engineering.

How much does re-rubbering cost?

Re-rubbering dairy platform drive wheels is approximately half the cost of a new drive wheel. Call Barnhill Engineering to discuss.

What is the turnaround time?

Turnaround time depends on a number of factors. Call Barnhill Engineering to discuss.

What if my dairy platform is already having drive problems?

Contact Barnhill Engineering to discuss – we offer 24/7 breakdown support throughout the South Island.
